Does Samsung make too many phones and tablets?

Want to buy a Samsung phone or tablet? Can’t decide which one is right for you? That’s no surprise, we’ve discovered the South Korean manufacturer has a product range that looks like Argos catalogue with an incredible 26 touchscreen devices.

We rounded up all the Samsung phones and tablets on sale in the UK, from the Galaxy S4 to the Galaxy Note 8.0, and collated them all together in an eye-raising infographic below.

As you can see from the infographic above, the main difference between Samsung phones and tablets is their size. Samsung’s range of 26 devices spans from the 3-inch Galaxy Y to the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3.

We’ve even been kind enough to leave out the Nexus 10 tablet, which is technically made and marketed as a Google product, even though Samsung is behind its production.

There are  distinguishing features between the products. The Galaxy Note range comes with a stylus included for note-taking, while the S4 Zoom is a compact camera hybrid featuring a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor. But these differences quickly become muddled when you delve deeper into Samsung’s product range. The company often releases several variations of the same phone based on a single, additional feature.

‘When it comes to tablets, I much prefer Apple’s approach of offering consumers a premium and budget option,’ comments Jessica Moreton, Which? tablets expert.

‘This makes it really simple to decide which product you want to buy. At the moment, Samsung runs the risk of confusing its potential customers. You could end up purchasing the new 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 and then find out you should have bought the same-sized Note 10.1.’
